Mahia, the national spirit of Morocco, has been celebrated for centuries. It’s delicious served straight, on ice with a squeeze of citrus, in cocktails, as well as in chef-inspired dishes.
Nahmias et Fils is the only source for locally-produced Mahia in the U.S. It’s award-winning. It’s inspired by a 1900 heirloom Nahmias family recipe, from the village of Taznakht, Nahmias Mahia was regularly toasted in Casablanca as the most exceptional in all of Morocco.
Now, Master Distiller David Nahmias handcrafts small batches of Mahia in the Hudson Valley. At least 6 pounds of carefully selected, California figs are distilled into each 750 ml bottle. A sense of cultural history, much love and a touch of anise, bring this spirit to life.
